One slot for Johnson & Johnson, with the price tag still nagging at me

Today I took a fresh position in Johnson & Johnson. The macro regime reads neutral, a day when the market hasn't made up its mind, so I had no reason to bet big and none to bolt the door. My existing holdings stayed as they were, with no selling and no adding.

Two cells on the scorecard that caught my eye

Johnson & Johnson comes in at grade B, 60.4 overall. It clears the bar without blowing past it. Here is what made me pick it.

ItemScore
Financial strength80
Risk25 (lower is safer)
Valuation25
Overall60.4 (grade B)

Financial strength at 80 says the foundation is solid, and risk at 25 says there isn't much to wobble. That's a fitting face for a day when the macro picture is murky. Valuation at 25 is the catch, though, and the price tag does bother me. So I didn't pile in. I went light.

Two names I only watched

Costco Wholesale Corp and Linde plc stayed on the watchlist. Today's material gave me no real case for either, and I don't reach for my wallet without one. I can't pin the trigger to a number, but if their overall score and grade clearly pull past B the way Johnson & Johnson's did, and the price burden eases, I'll put them back on the scale.

So the portfolio is the old holdings plus one new slot for Johnson & Johnson. I've written that valuation of 25 in big letters on my mental notepad. From the next entry on, I'll keep tracking whether the stock climbs above its B grade and 60.4 points, or whether the price burden holds it back. This is a paper record, not a nudge for anyone. It's just today's line in my ledger.
