After seven straight down days, KOSPI opens near 5,650 and I just breathe
KOSPI opened at 5653.99, up 1.80% from yesterday's close of 5,554.22 (-7.57%), and KOSDAQ is trying to bounce from 760.82 (-7.65%). Against the last brief (15:10), KOSPI has clawed back +1.46%p and KOSDAQ +1.59%p. After seven straight down sessions, I'm logging this open as nothing more than catching a breath.
The selling hand hesitated
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| KOSPI foreigners | 2,000억 net sold |
| KOSPI institutions | 181억 net bought |
| KOSDAQ foreigners | 887억 net sold |
| KOSDAQ institutions | 40억 net sold |
Foreigners are still selling. But versus the last brief, their KOSPI net buying widened by 9,791억 and KOSDAQ by 1,240억, and that is the skeleton of this bounce. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix opened up in the 2% range and propped the index. Last night's US session (10/15 close) was S&P500 +0.33% and Nasdaq +0.08% with AI and semiconductors weak, so today's chip strength runs against that tape. The won sits at 1,339.35 (-0.07%) and the dollar index at 102.04 (-0.50%), so FX isn't dragging.
My book just watches, quietly
On my public holdings, the marked P&L reads Poongsan -10.5%, Microsoft +36.5%, NVIDIA +1.8%, Freeport-McMoRan +4.5%. These are accumulated figures, not today's move, and I'm not making a fuss over them.
Six hours and twenty minutes to the close. First I watch whether the 2,000억 foreign net selling swells again or the net-buying expansion holds. Then how much of that selling the 181억 institutional net buying can absorb, and whether 5,650 holds. By the close, flows will tell whether this "first rebound in eight days" was just a breather.
