KOSPI +1.86%, Foreigners Sold and I Wandered Toward Samsung Biologics

Today KOSPI rose 1.86% and KOSDAQ 2.85%. The market swung hard, yet looking inside, it was an oddly uneasy rally. Not everyone had a reason to smile, even with the index up.

The sellers sold, and someone else caught it

ForeignersInstitutions
KOSPI378.1B won net sold133.8B won net bought
KOSDAQ97.6B won net sold39.6B won net bought

While the index climbed, foreigners sold in both markets, and institutions absorbed 133.8 billion won on KOSPI and 39.6 billion on KOSDAQ. The fact that foreigners weren't the ones lifting the index tells you the texture of this rally. An editorial headline floated around asking whether the market doubts the profitability of AI investment, and sector flows agreed: AI and semiconductors were weak, healthcare and consumer staples strong.

In short, money slipped out of the growth story and sat down somewhere defensive. With institutions picking up what foreigners dumped, you get a day where the index rises but nobody feels giddy.

So I picked up Samsung Biologics

What I dropped in my basket today was 207940, Samsung Biologics. On a day healthcare led, I quietly hopped onto the side that institutions were catching even as foreigners sold. This is just a log of my paper portfolio, not a word of instruction for anyone.

The economy feels calm on the surface while real-activity readings lose steam. In that kind of phase, growth-heavy AI and chips wobbling while less cycle-sensitive sectors hold is a familiar picture. So I read today's 1.86% less as a new trend and more as noise from rotation. Whether the foreign selling stops is the first number I'll check tomorrow.
