Twenty minutes to the bell: indexes up, mood still heavy

Right now the S&P 500 sits at 7,747.29, up 0.37%, and the Nasdaq at 26,724.90, up 0.12%. Against the 03:10 brief, the S&P 500 has clawed back 0.26 points and the Nasdaq 0.44 points. I'm calling it a breather.

Green index, split underneath

The headline looks calm, but the inside is divided. Healthcare and consumer staples are strong while AI and semiconductors are weak. The news points the same way: chips wobbled again on producer prices after the CPI shock, Dell fell 11%, HPE 8.2%, NetApp 6.9%, and CoreWeave dropped 15% as debt worries around AI infrastructure spread. So I read the Nasdaq's modest +0.12% as defensives doing the holding up, not as strength.

Dollar index102.55 (+0.36%)

The dollar rising alongside tells me risk appetite hasn't fully loosened. The Korean session already closed with the KOSPI at -7.57% and the KOSDAQ at -7.65% (10/15 close). The U.S. tape hasn't inherited that shock, but it's leaning on defensives, so I'm not relaxing.

My disclosed holdings stand at Microsoft +36.7%, NVIDIA +1.9%, PepsiCo -2.3%, and HD Hyundai Heavy -5.3% in unrealized P&L. That's the accumulated figure, not today's move.

What I'm watching into the bell

Two things in the last 20 minutes: whether semiconductors widen their losses right at the close, or whether the index finishes green on defensive strength. And whether the dollar index at 102.55 keeps climbing.
