Sturdy business, so-so price: I eased into Johnson & Johnson
Today I added Johnson & Johnson to the paper book. The macro regime reads neutral, not a day to push hard or to retreat, so I picked just one name and slipped it in quietly. My existing holdings stay as they are: no sells, no top-ups.
The scorecard showed strength in one place only
Johnson & Johnson came in at a B grade, 55.4 overall. In plain words: not bad, but not a conviction call either. Here is how the pieces broke down.
| Factor | Score |
|---|---|
| Fundamentals | 72 |
| Risk | 30 (on the low side) |
| Valuation | 30 |
| Technicals, catalysts, sentiment | around 50 |
Fundamentals at 72 is the strongest leg and risk at 30 is low, so I see a business that can take a punch. Valuation at 30 says the price offers little appeal, so I didn't buy it because it's cheap. I bought a little because it's sturdy.
The watchlist is still waiting outside the door
I only watched Fortinet and Palo Alto Networks today. The material gave me no scores for them, just the fact that the case for buying isn't filled in yet. Before I call their names again, I'd want a total score past the B-grade line like Johnson & Johnson's, plus one factor clearly carrying the weight. When that shows up, the shopping-cart talk can resume.
Where the portfolio stands now
I left the old holdings alone, and Johnson & Johnson now sits on top as a 55.4-point defensive slot. With technicals, catalysts and sentiment parked near 50, I wasn't buying for short-term bounce. Next entry, I'll check whether valuation climbs off 30 or the catalyst score wakes up. This is a paper log, not a nudge for anyone to act.
