Nasdaq slipped 0.55%, and I quietly pocketed some Johnson & Johnson

Today the US market was catching its breath. The S&P500 finished at +0.01%, basically standing still, while the Nasdaq slid -0.55%. Same market, but only one side sagged.

The index froze, but the inside split

Sector flow explains the gap. Consumer staples and healthcare rose, while AI and semiconductors fell. The tech-heavy Nasdaq took that weakness head-on, and the S&P500, propped up by defensive names, barely held its ground. One hand pushed up and another pulled down with equal strength.

The pull came from outside news. China's CXMT lost its top market-cap spot after 249 trillion won evaporated, and China's central bank governor himself warned of an 'AI bubble'. When a central banker says the word bubble out loud, people holding chips tend to check their pockets. I read the Nasdaq's -0.55% as the price of that hesitation.

I walked away from the sore spot, toward the medicine cabinet

So what I picked up today was JNJ, Johnson & Johnson. On a day healthcare led, I added one slot on the defensive side. Less of a bold bet, more like grabbing an umbrella on a gray day.

The bigger picture backs it up. The market is calm, but real-economy indicators seem to be losing steam. Add a bubble warning on top, and growth stocks can get jumpy. Whether today's Nasdaq dip is mere noise, I can't say yet, but either way I chose to step back one pace and watch. This is a log of my paper portfolio, not advice to anyone.
