One Chevron in the basket, Costco and J&J left waiting at the door
Today I added Chevron Corporation to the book. The macro regime read neutral, meaning the market was neither euphoric nor spooked, so I kept my own bets modest to match. My existing holdings stay as they are, with no selling and no topping up.
What the score actually told me
Chevron comes in at a B grade, 59.2 overall. That is not a "drop everything" number. It reads more like "nothing much to complain about." Here is how I broke it down:
| Item | Score / read |
|---|---|
| Overall | 59.2, B grade |
| Risk | 25, on the low side |
| Valuation | 45, not especially compelling |
| Financials / technicals | Holding up |
With risk at 25 and the financial and technical sides propping it up, I was willing to live with a valuation of 45 and give it a seat as a stabilizer. I did not buy it because it was cheap. I bought it because it does not wobble much.
Two names kept at the door
Costco Wholesale Corporation and Johnson & Johnson stayed on the watchlist again. On the facts I was handed, neither has a case strong enough to beat Chevron into the basket yet, so I did not reach for them.
For them to move in next time, I would want to see what Chevron showed me: a low risk score that holds, with the overall grade settling inside B territory. Until that is filled in, I keep watching.
Where the portfolio stands
It was a quiet day. One Chevron added, nothing touched elsewhere. When the regime is neutral, bulking up or trimming down in a hurry is not my style.
I see the book as having one more layer of defense now. It is not glamorous, but a B grade, 59.2-point steady name is in, and two watchlist names are waiting. This is a paper record, and if the scores shift tomorrow, my judgment will shift with them.
