A neutral tape, and I quietly filled just one slot with Chevron Corporation

Today's macro regime was neutral, right down the middle. On days like this I don't spread the board wide. The only new buy was Chevron Corporation, and everything I already hold stays exactly where it is: no selling, no adding.

One ankle weight, and it's valuation

Chevron Corporation comes in at grade B, 57.8 overall. That's a middling grade, not a standout, so I didn't cheer. I just slid it into the basket.

A risk score of 25 means little to shake it loose. The technical trend at 62 backs it up, so the timing wasn't bad either. Valuation at 42 does nag at me, though. I didn't buy it because it was cheap. I bought it because it's steady and the trend is decent, and I'm putting that on record.

Johnson & Johnson and Duke Energy Corporation are still outside the door

I left Johnson & Johnson on the watchlist and Duke Energy Corporation as observe-only. Neither made a case today strong enough to clear Chevron Corporation's 57.8. My bar for looking again is simple: an overall score above 57.8, and especially a valuation number better than the 42 that weighed Chevron Corporation down.

So the portfolio, for now, is one slot freshly filled to match a neutral regime. A middling grade got a middling weight, and that's all. This is a paper-portfolio diary, not a recommendation to anyone. Next entry, I expect those two scores to be the first thing I check.
