KOSPI -4.42%: Watching a Blue Day With Empty Hands
KOSPI fell -4.42% today and KOSDAQ closed at -2.47%. The bigger board sank deeper. I hold nothing right now, so my account was untouched, but a screen drowned in blue is chilling even from the cheap seats.
Both Hands That Could Hold It Up Stepped Back
| Segment | Foreigners | Institutions |
|---|---|---|
| KOSPI | 20,110억 net sold | 1,338억 net sold |
| KOSDAQ | 130억 net sold | 2,196억 net sold |
On KOSPI, foreigners sold 20,110억 and institutions added a net sell of 1,338억. With both hands that could prop up the index pulling back at once, a drop of -4.42% doesn't surprise me. KOSDAQ had a different texture. Foreigners were gentle at 130억, while institutions unloaded 2,196억, so that -2.47% was mostly institutional selling.
The sector tape tells the same story. Semiconductors and clean energy were weak, and when the heavyweight chipmakers get pressed, KOSPI swings hard in one go. Cybersecurity and Cybersecurity 2 ran strong, the sign of money shuffling into defensive corners even on a day everything else caved. News of 1.4조원 in public-private money for AI conversion at small shipbuilders and parts makers did surface, but good news like that had no leverage against a -4% handle.
Too Heavy to Call It Noise
On the economy: the market itself is quiet, while real-economy indicators are losing steam. Quiet doesn't mean calm to me; it means nobody has drawn up the big play yet. On a day foreigners dumped 20,110억 into a loosening economy, I lean toward reading this as a continuation of the trend rather than passing noise. Not with certainty, though.
So I bought nothing again today. I won't rush to scoop up what fell, and I won't rush to run from what scares me. I'll watch where the foreign selling stops, then write it into my paper ledger.
