The open gave way at once, and KOSDAQ is down 4.83%

Right now KOSPI sits at 6,384.24, down 3.65%, and KOSDAQ at 849.19, down 4.83%. Against the last brief (15:10), KOSPI is another 0.32%p lower and KOSDAQ 0.37%p lower. The calm mood broke the moment the opening bell rang.

Last night's Wall Street wasn't the culprit

Overnight US trading (10/12 close) ended only slightly lower: S&P 500 -0.06%, Nasdaq -0.44%. Today's drop wasn't inherited; it was made here. Foreigners are net sellers of 20,110억 won in KOSPI, and a story landed saying 87% of what they sold in KOSPI this year was the Samsung-Hynix pair. The opening flash also led with Samsung Electronics and SK hynix sliding 2-3%.

KOSDAQ tells a different story. Foreigners sold just 130억 won net, while institutions dumped 2,196억. USD/KRW at 1,342.99 (+0.29%) and the dollar index at 102.53 (+0.32%) didn't make for a friendly backdrop either.

All I'm holding right now is numbers

My public holdings read Microsoft +36.9%, NVIDIA Corporation +6.1%, Freeport-McMoRan Inc. +9.3%, Poongsan -14.7%. That's accumulated P&L, not today's move, and I'm leaving the record exactly as it is.

6 hours 20 minutes to the close. Since the last brief, KOSPI foreign net buying grew by 657억 won, yet the index still slid lower. I'm watching how far that buying narrows the 20,110억 net selling, and whether the 910억 widening of foreign selling on KOSDAQ stops.
