Good news, bowed heads, and my hands stayed empty

US stocks just caught their breath today. The S&P 500 slipped -0.15% and the Nasdaq -0.25%, a quiet drift down with no big accident. I hold nothing right now, so there was no position of mine to get rattled.

IndexMove
S&P 500-0.15%
Nasdaq-0.25%
KOSPI-2.62% (closed at 6,625.93)

When good news became a burden

The Nasdaq's slightly deeper dip makes sense to me. TSMC reported a 50% jump in third-quarter revenue on AI chip demand, a record, and the market still didn't cheer. The expectation was already baked into the price. Across the ocean, Samsung Electronics posted record-level earnings and the KOSPI still dropped 2.62% to close at 6,625.93, so today good news did not mean a rally.

Sectors split. Utilities and cybersecurity were firm, while biotech and bio names lagged. The story of a financial-sector hacker, presumed to be a 26-year-old in China's Guangdong who used Hong Kong servers and DeepSeek, likely pulled eyes toward security. Defensive utilities rising reads to me like everyone taking a step back.

Noise or trend? I'll keep watching

In the big picture, the surface looks calm while real-economy indicators lose steam. So -0.15% and -0.25% feel like noise to me. But growth-stock good news not landing while defensive sectors climb could be a trend extending itself, and that nags at me. Today I sat on the sidelines with nothing in the portfolio. This is a paper-trading record, not a suggestion to anyone.
