Yields and oil caught their breath, and the indexes stacked another layer on the last check-in

Right now the S&P 500 sits at 7,836.33, up 0.80%, and the Nasdaq at 27,713.37, up 0.86%. Against the last brief (22:40), the S&P 500 is another 0.30 percentage points higher and the Nasdaq another 0.26. That's one more layer stacked on last hour's gain, with 4 hours 50 minutes left until the close.

Yields turned down, and risk appetite quietly wandered back

I'll pick just two threads. U.S. Treasury yields and crude oil slipped together, and risk appetite came back. Nvidia also printed a fresh record at $243.37 early in the session, pulling big AI tech names up with it. With real-economy data looking tired, yields had good reason to ease, so I'm leaning back and watching the indexes hold near their highs. By sector, cybersecurity is strong while biotech is weak, so this isn't a rally across the board. The dollar index is a touch higher at 102.17 (+0.24%), while the won has strengthened to 1,342.56 per dollar (-1.33%).

The last Korean session closed with the KOSPI at -0.89% and the KOSDAQ at +2.98% (the 10/6 close, a settled number). The KOSPI's weakness runs against today's U.S. tech tailwind; only the KOSDAQ moved in the same direction as risk appetite. My disclosed holdings stand at KB Financial -5.4%, Coca-Cola Co -0.2%, Hyundai Rotem +0.6% and Celltrion -1.4% in unrealized P&L. That's cumulative, not today's move, so I just log it.

What I'm watching in the remaining 4 hours 50 minutes

First, whether the drop in yields and oil holds into the late session. If they turn back up, this morning's risk appetite could thin out. Second, breadth: whether a few mega-caps like Nvidia are doing the lifting, or whether even weak biotech gets a breather. That tells me how solid the current +0.80% and +0.86% really are. I'll write the change down again in the next brief.
