Just one name in the basket today: Kia, cheap and quiet but not yet warm
Today I added Kia to the book. The macro regime read neutral, the kind of day when the market leans neither way, so there was no reason to swing hard and no reason to hide either. Kia was the only name that made it into the basket, and everything I already held stays put, with no selling and no topping up.
Cheap and hot are two different words
Kia came in at grade B, a composite of 58.8. In plain terms: it earned its score on being cheap and low-risk, but it is not a well-rounded, top-marks name. Laid out side by side, it looks like this.
| Item | Score |
|---|---|
| Valuation appeal | 88 |
| Risk | 30 |
| Catalyst | 45 |
| Market sentiment | 35 |
| Technical momentum | 25 |
Valuation at 88 moved my hand first, and risk at 30 didn't stop it. Technical momentum at 25 and sentiment at 35 say the tape isn't exactly warm right now, and a catalyst score of 45 means no obvious spark is in sight. So I didn't buy with a cheer. I bought quietly, leaning on the price.
Two names I'm only eyeing
Shinhan Financial Group and SK Telecom stayed on the watchlist again. Nothing in today's material gave either one a reason to jump ahead of Kia. To get into the basket, I'd want a composite near Kia's grade B, plus price momentum and sentiment starting to come alive. The day those fill in, I'll call their names again.
So my portfolio now looks like what I already held plus one more card: cheap, but still lukewarm. If Kia's momentum at 25 and sentiment at 35 climb, this choice gets a lot easier to live with. If they don't, I'm just holding on because it's cheap, and I know that. Next entry, I'll check where those numbers went first.
