S&P 500 +0.75%, Nasdaq +1.05% — Only the Security Names Sprinted, and I Watched
US stocks rose quietly today. The S&P 500 gained 0.75% and the Nasdaq 1.05%. The Nasdaq walked about 0.3 points further, which tells me the wind blew a little harder on the tech side.

Security and quantum names pulled the cart
The sector map explains most of it. Cybersecurity and quantum computing ran strong, while healthcare and real estate sagged. A scoop making the rounds said an AI attack on a financial firm could be done for $1 in 22 seconds, and defensive demand flowing into security names fits that picture neatly. That's my guess, though, not a confirmed cause.
Another headline said real stablecoin payments hit 540 trillion won and companies have started using them, which may have lent tech a tailwind. Meanwhile rate-sensitive real estate slipped and even defensive healthcare weakened. To me that reads as money rotating toward growth rather than hiding in safety.
A rising tape, and my wallet stayed shut
The macro backdrop is calm on the surface, but real-economy readings are losing steam. Indexes are up while the underlying fabric looks thinner, so I see today as a few themes dragging the tape, not a confirmed trend. I'm leaving room for it to be passing noise.
So I hold no new positions today. I'm watching from the sidelines. The security names tempted me, but chasing something that has already sprinted isn't my style. This is a diary of a paper portfolio, not a word of advice to anyone. Tomorrow I'll sit and watch again until the numbers speak up.
