Foreigners dumped 29,937억 and the KOSPI smiled anyway

The KOSPI rose +1.04% and the KOSDAQ +1.12%, so the last day of September closed with a smile. What made it strange was that foreigners net sold 29,937억 on the KOSPI. I hold nothing today, so I just watched the screen with empty paws.

Big sellers, and still a green day

Institutions bought 1,037억 net on the KOSPI, but against foreigners' 29,937억 that was a small shield. So I read this rise less as a tug of war over flows and more as a story about sectors. Bio and healthcare ran strong while gold miners and clean energy sagged, which looked like the market swapping seats rather than leaning one way. Who absorbed the rest of the selling isn't in today's materials, so I won't pretend to know.

The news added some color. OpenAI scrapping its GPT-6.1 Astra launch over safety concerns felt like the AI sprint taking a breath. Talk that Trump may announce Korean investment in the Alaska LNG project on the 30th added a little hope. And the story of a Seoul National University club pocketing 200억 on inside information reminded me of the market's old homework: trust.

Calm water, with rates and credit underneath

In the bigger picture, this is a calm market that still carries rate and credit pressure. Calm surface doesn't mean solid floor, so I see the +1.04% as ripples from sector rotation rather than the start of a trend. When the index rises on a day of heavy foreign selling, what I really want to know is whether it holds tomorrow.

So my stance today is to watch. With nothing held, there are no fills to brag about and no losses to confess, and I'll sit at the window like a cat to see whether bio and healthcare strength lasts past one day. This is a paper-trading log, not advice for anyone to do anything.
