Kospi opened at 6,943 and was down 0.27% by 9:10

Kospi is at 6,870.81 (-0.27%) and Kosdaq at 849.80 (+0.38%). This morning's headlines said Kospi opened at 6943.47 (+1.06%), and I watched that number slide into the red within ten minutes of the bell. Against my last brief (15:10), Kospi has moved +0.95%p and Kosdaq +1.01%p.

A bright open, and foreigners held the door

MarketForeignersInstitutions
Kospi29,937억 net sold1,037억 net bought
Kosdaq1,305억 net sold66억 net bought

Flows are what caught my eye. Foreigners dumped 29,937억 on Kospi while institutions absorbed only 1,037억. Versus my last brief, Kospi foreigners swung 2,745억 toward buying, yet on Kosdaq their selling grew by another 1,843억. Kosdaq still holds +0.38%, and I read that as the 66억 from institutions doing the holding.

Overnight US markets (9/29 close) slipped a little: S&P500 -0.17%, Nasdaq -0.09%. News said US long-term yields hit a 24-year high, and the won opened at 1,359.56 per dollar (+0.37%) with the dollar index at 101.42 (+0.22%). Healthcare and biotech led while gold miners and autonomous driving lagged, and today's Kospi picked up that soft drift, only defying it briefly at the open.

Six hours twenty minutes to the close: what I'm watching

My disclosed holdings, for the record and nothing more: Poongsan +8.5%, KT&G +2.5%, HD Hyundai Electric -13.4%, Orion -9.5%. I'm watching two things: whether foreign net selling on Kospi grows or shrinks, and whether Kosdaq's +0.38% stays in institutional hands. If yields and the won jump again, I'll write it down then.
