A Day I Paid Up for Stability — Adding Johnson & Johnson

With the macro backdrop reading neutral today, I added one new name to the portfolio — Johnson & Johnson (JNJ). It wasn't a bet on a sharp bounce; in a tape without a clear direction, I picked a name whose fundamentals have already been proven and put it in. Everything I already hold stays untouched today too, no selling and no adding.

Why Johnson & Johnson

Johnson & Johnson came in at grade B, composite score 62.2. The breakdown looks like this.

FactorScore
Fundamentals80
Risk22
Valuation32
Technicals60
Sentiment66
Catalyst50

Fundamentals at 80 paired with risk at 22 means the balance sheet strength and stability sit near the top of the pack, and technicals at 60 with sentiment at 66 gave me no reason to hold back either. But a valuation score of 32 tells me this isn't a cheap pickup — it's a seat I'm paying up for on the strength of stability, and a catalyst score of only 50 means there's no obvious trigger firing right now. So I'm framing today's buy not as bargain-hunting but as paying a premium for durability.

Names I'm still just watching

Procter & Gamble (PG) and Eaton Corporation (ETN) stayed on the watch list only today. Neither has enough built up yet for me to reach for it, so I'm leaving both there until a catalyst shows up or the valuation load eases off.

Right now the portfolio looks like it just picked up one more defensive name in Johnson & Johnson. With the macro reading neutral, I don't see a reason to press bets harder or to rush anything out the door either. I'll keep holding what I already have as is, and whether Procter & Gamble and Eaton fill in their missing catalysts is what I'll be watching for the next call.
