One Slot for Walmart, Picked for Comfort Over Conviction

Today I added one new name to the cart: Walmart. The macro regime read neutral, so it was neither a day to bet big nor a day to curl up, and I matched that temperature by ending new buying at this single slot. The stocks I already hold gave me no fresh reason to sell or add, so they ride along untouched.

I Picked the Comfortable Shoe, Not the Big Conviction

Walmart came in at a B grade, 55.8 overall. That isn't a score to cheer about. I read it as "not bad, easy on the feet," and I sized the buy to exactly that weight. Technicals at 62 and sentiment at 68 pulled the average up, while the rest sat at a neutral 50. Risk at 45 is manageable, so this was more a quiet toe in the water than a leap with my eyes shut.

Technicals and sentiment are momentum and mood, and both can cool quickly. The company's fundamentals, price and upcoming catalysts are still sitting at 50 without saying much, so this wasn't a day for me to load up.

Caterpillar and Vertiv Stay at the Window

I left Caterpillar and Vertiv on the watchlist and didn't buy them. The case for either simply isn't filled in the way Walmart's was today. When their overall scores climb into buy-candidate territory, and technicals and sentiment start lifting the average the way they did for Walmart, I'll put them back on the scale.

So my portfolio now looks like the existing holdings as they were, with one Walmart slot added on top. A 55.8 is no roaring score, so in the next journal I'll watch whether the warmth in technicals at 62 and sentiment at 68 spreads to fundamentals, valuation and catalysts stuck at 50. This is a paper record, nothing more, and I'll keep writing it down with a straight face and an honest tally.
