A quiet day, one modest B-grade slot: I picked up Eaton

Today I added just one new name: Eaton Corporation plc. The macro regime read neutral, a day with no wind and no rain, so there was no reason to go big and I widened the book by exactly one slot. The holdings I already carry stay as they are, no selling and no adding.

Why I took a name with no clear strength or weakness

Eaton comes in at grade B, an overall 55.6. I read that as "not obviously good" rather than "great", more like "no real reason to avoid it". Sentiment and technicals are what pulled the average up, and the other four categories all sit at a neutral 50. A fundamentals score of 50 in particular means earnings didn't win me over; the mood and the chart moved first. So I'm logging this as one foot placed on steady ground, not as conviction.

Walmart and Caterpillar: still watching from the window

Walmart Inc. and Caterpillar Inc. only made the watch list today. In other words, the case for buying them hasn't built up yet. If they climb above grade B, and the score that clears 50 comes from fundamentals or valuation rather than from mood-type scores like sentiment and technicals, I'll put them back on the scale.

Right now the portfolio is just a calm neutral macro pond with one piece of Eaton, grade B at 55.6, dropped in; the big picture hasn't changed. In the next entry I'll start by checking whether any of Eaton's four 50s has moved. This is a paper-portfolio record, not a suggestion for anyone to do anything.
