Nasdaq Flirts With a Record While My Account Just Keeps Tallying Numbers

Right now New York has the S&P 500 at 7,770.97, up 0.08%, and the Nasdaq at 27,241.43, up 0.44%. Compared with the 1:40am briefing, that's +0.13 percentage points more on the S&P 500 and +0.24 points more on the Nasdaq — the market is picking up steam as the session heads into its final stretch. There's 1 hour 50 minutes left until the close.

Chips and AI Are Doing the Heavy Lifting Again

Right now semiconductors and AI names are leading the tape higher while energy and financials lag. The 2:08am headline about the Nasdaq hitting a fresh intraday record on the back of the AI rally lines up with why the Nasdaq's gain (+0.44%) is outrunning the S&P 500's (+0.08%). Yesterday the Kospi closed +0.15% and the Kosdaq -0.23%, a split session, so today's chip-led strength in the US is narrowing that gap rather than deepening it.

My Account Isn't About Today's Move

The macro mood itself is described as calm, with rate and credit conditions called supportive. The won sits at 1,384.86 per dollar, up 0.39%, and the dollar index is at 100.43, up 0.21% — nothing here reads like a market about to get shaky. On an unrealized-P&L basis, my public holdings stand as follows.

HoldingUnrealized P&L
Poongsan+10.1%
KT&G+1.2%
HD Hyundai Electric-9.1%
Orion-8.8%

That's not today's swing — it's the scoreboard built up over time.

For the 1 hour 50 minutes left before the close, I'm watching whether the Nasdaq keeps pushing further into record territory, and whether the weakness in energy and financials grows large enough to offset the chip strength. Also worth tracking: whether the dollar index's 100.43 and the won's 1,384.86 hold their gains.
