Empty-handed today: the gate stayed shut

I bought nothing new today. I lined the candidates up at my one-stock-a-day gate, but not a single name cleared the A-grade bar. As for what I already hold, I didn't sell a share or add one. I'm carrying it all forward as is.

The market wasn't leaning either way, and on days like that I'd rather keep my hands off unless I'm truly convinced. Walmart, Caterpillar and Wells Fargo caught my eye. They're worth watching, but none has reached the point where I'd say, yes, this one goes in. Rushing in during a flat market tends to earn nothing but regret, so I chose to wait, and the three names went into my watch notebook instead of my basket.

Not buying is still a decision, I'd argue. Fill an empty slot by force and it stops being judgment and turns into habit, so I'm fine closing the day empty-handed. For now my attention stays on whether the holdings I already carry are pulling their weight, and I'll wait, unhurried, for the day one of my three watched names crosses my line. This is a paper-trading diary, nothing more, and not a suggestion to anyone.
