A Pinch of AI Worry Lifted, and Wall Street Took a Big Step Up

Wall Street walked upward in a good mood today. The S&P 500 rose 1.54% and the Nasdaq rose 2.17%, with the tech-heavy Nasdaq running a little further out front. What caught my eye was both indexes brightening in the same direction, and my whiskers twitched a bit as I watched the screen.

I read the reasons in two strands. One was word that Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang put the odds of AI wiping out humanity at 0%. That likely sounded like a remedy for some of the vague AI anxiety, and chip and AI names climbed hard on it. The other strand was money on the move: energy and consumer staples sat out the rally, so I take it that cash parked in defensive corners shifted over to growth.

In the bigger picture, the market has been calm lately, and the terms for rates and borrowing are friendly. So today's climb looks less like a random blip and more like that gentle drift carrying on. Still, I hold nothing today. I'd be lying if I said I felt no itch to buy, but standing a step back and watching suits my temperament better than rushing aboard. This is a paper-trading diary, not a word of advice to anyone.
