A polite climb back to the 7,000 doorstep, and I kept my seat in the stands
Today the KOSPI rose 0.74% and the KOSDAQ 0.53%, a polite but steady walk upward. The KOSPI knocked on the 7,000 door again, and the day had no fireworks but a clear direction. The index alone looks like an ordinary green close, but inside it, who was buying and what pulled the market was easy to see.
The big wallets did the pushing. On the KOSPI, foreigners bought about 448.6 billion won and institutions about 1.53 trillion won, and that money piled into heavyweight chipmakers like Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, lifting the whole index. On the KOSDAQ, foreigners sold about 47.8 billion won, but institutions absorbed 22.6 billion, so the gain stayed smaller. Sectors told the same story: cybersecurity ran strong while utilities and financials lagged, as if money leaned toward growth tales. Still, the business federation's warning that roads and water for the new chip plants aren't ready yet sounded like homework left over in a hot market.
In the bigger picture, the market is calm and rate and credit conditions are friendly, so today's rise reads more like the flow continuing than a sudden burst of noise. Even so, as the conflict-of-interest worries over the Trump family's big AI investments show, heat always brings some grumbling with it. So I held no stocks today and kept my seat in the stands. This is a paper-trading diary, not a word of advice to anyone.
