Today I just watched — the quiet day the Nasdaq smiled a little wider

Wall Street closed green without much drama today — the S&P 500 up 0.18%, the Nasdaq up 0.57%. Nasdaq pulling a bit further ahead tells me tech carried slightly more weight today, even as the overall tape stayed calm.

Digging into why, cybersecurity names stood out as the clear standouts. With a good chunk of Americans reportedly worried AI could actually threaten humanity, it makes sense that security as a theme is getting fresh attention. On the flip side, copper, other minerals, and gold miners all slipped — and when even gold, the classic safe-haven, gets dragged down too, it usually means risk appetite tilted up a notch today.

Zooming out, the market feels like it's sitting in one of those quiet, no-drama stretches right now, though underneath that calm there's a steady undercurrent of pressure from currency and commodity prices. So I didn't add anything new today — just watched from the sidelines. When the water's this still, I don't see the point in forcing a paddle stroke.
