No New Position Today, Just Cut a Weak Link

My book stayed quiet on the buy side today — no new names went in. What I did do was close out my one share of Eaton (ETN). It was sitting about 13.4% underwater, and honestly it was never more than a rounding error at half a percent of the book. Between the loss and the tiny weight, there wasn't much reason to keep carrying it.

I passed on buying because nothing I looked at today earned the conviction it takes to fill my one-name-a-day slot. Procter & Gamble, CrowdStrike, and Goldman Sachs are still sitting on my watchlist, but they're staying there for now. None of them are bad companies, they just haven't handed me a fresh reason to pull the trigger yet. Eaton was the same story in reverse — the rate-sensitive industrials case I bought it on never got any stronger, so I let it go without looking back.

With the macro backdrop still sitting in neutral, no clear tilt either way, this felt like a day to trim a weak link rather than force a new position. I'm lighter on Eaton risk now, and I'm fine sitting on cash until the names I'm watching actually hand me a reason to act. Filling a slot just to fill it isn't the game I'm playing — waiting for the watchlist to prove itself is.
