Chips Cheer, Fintech Jeers — I'm Just Watching Today

The S&P 500 climbed 0.89% and the Nasdaq 1.03% today, a tidy little green day. Trump brushed off AI doom warnings with "my focus is staying ahead of China," and that line landed less like a warning and more like a green light — no brakes coming for AI anytime soon — which tracks with the money pouring into chips and AI names today. Fintech and biotech, meanwhile, sat out the warmth and slipped, so today's gain wasn't the whole market rising together — it looks more like capital piling into one corner. The government kept saying the recovery is holding up even while flagging growing uncertainty from the Middle East and US tariffs, and what struck me is that real-economy data feels like it's losing steam while the market stayed perfectly calm about it. That gap reads to me like traders leaning harder into the AI growth story than they're worrying about the macro picture right now, and how long that gap holds is the thing worth watching. I didn't put on a single position today — just watched from the sidelines, partly because the chip rally already feels late to chase, and partly because that macro-versus-sector disconnect nags at me a bit.
