The morning chip stocks shrugged off a hot CPI

Right out of the gate, the S&P 500 climbed to the 7,668 line and the Nasdaq to 26,352, both up over 1%. That's a full step higher than what I was looking at four hours ago — overnight, August CPI came in hotter than expected and reignited talk of a rate hike at this month's FOMC, yet chips and AI names muscled the index up anyway. Healthcare and fintech, meanwhile, are slipping in the same session. Yesterday Kospi closed down 1.76% and Kosdaq down 1.95%, so today's US session is doing the opposite of carrying that heavy mood forward. My own book has Samsung Electronics up 3.2% and Poongsan up 8.2% smiling back at me while Duksan Neolux still sits heavy at -12.1%, and into the close I'll just be watching whether chip strength keeps shrugging off the CPI jolt.
