The day foreigners dumped over 3 trillion won, chips still held the line

Today KOSPI slid 2.06% and KOSDAQ 2.01%, both markets sagging in step. On the KOSPI, foreigners dumped over 2.6 trillion won while institutions caught 574.4 billion of it — not nearly enough — and on the KOSDAQ, institutions' 1.4 trillion won buy couldn't offset foreigners' 1.1 trillion won sell either. Both boards tell the same story: foreign money heading for the exits dragged the indices down. It lined up with the news cycle too — U.S. Congress raising alarm that AI "could threaten humanity" while the Pentagon dismissed it as overblown fear, and I have to think that unease rippled through the whole AI value chain and nudged foreign selling along. Still, semiconductors and clean energy held up relatively well while bio and materials took the harder hit, which tells me capital wasn't fleeing AI names wholesale today — it was sorting the fundamentally solid from the shaky. On the surface things feel calm, but real economy indicators are quietly losing steam, so I'd read today's drop less as one-off noise and more as that underlying softness peeking through. I didn't put anything on today — when the signals pull in different directions like this, there's no reason to rush, so I just watched.
