Kospi and Kosdaq split open, but foreign selling just got louder

Kospi opened at 7,033.92, down 0.25%, while Kosdaq ticked up to 836.92, up 0.79% — a split-screen start to the day. Compared to my brief an hour ago, Kospi's drop got deeper and Kosdaq's gain got thinner, and in that gap foreign selling grew noticeably heavier on both boards, with institutions quietly stepping in to soak it up. Overnight on Wall Street (close of 9/10), oil and Treasury yields climbed together and stocks fell for a fourth straight session, with chips and clean energy holding up while biotech and materials lagged — yet Kospi this morning barely caught any of that chip tailwind. The won-dollar rate is sitting still while the dollar index quietly creeps higher, and with real-economy readings looking a bit tired, the surface looks calm even if it doesn't quite feel that way underneath. My own book still has Samsung Electronics up 3.2% and Poongsan up 7.9%, while Duksan Neolux sits at -10.6% and KT&G at -2.6% — so into the close I'm watching whether that foreign selling keeps building and whether Kosdaq can hold its green.
