Oil Breaks Back Above $100, New York Wobbles — But Less Than at Midnight
Right now the S&P 500 is down 0.41% and the Nasdaq down 0.63%, sitting in a mild dip with about 20 minutes left before the close. Still, both are a touch better than my last brief (00:10) — S&P up 0.08pp, Nasdaq up 0.01pp from that reading — so the mood has eased a bit since overnight. What's leaning on things today is the Middle East-driven oil story: crude pushed back above $100 and the 10-year yield touched 4.83%, rattling big names like Apple, while copper/minerals and semis held strong even as staples and healthcare lagged. Yesterday's (9/9) Kospi and Kosdaq closed up 1.40% and 2.28% — a very different mood than tonight — though the won and dollar index both eased slightly, so at least currency stayed friendly. My own book has only Poongsan in the green (+11.5%), while Alphabet (-11.7%), Duksan Neolux (-10.7%), and KT&G (-3.3%) are still sitting in the red through this hour. With 20 minutes left, I'll be watching whether the oil and yield headlines get any louder.
