GDP's Best Print in 47 Years, and I Rode In on Samsung SDS

KOSPI closed the day up 0.88%, and it wore a pretty easy smile doing it. Foreigners bought in for more than 2.5 trillion won and institutions weren't far behind at 2.6 trillion-plus, both sides rowing the index in the same direction. OpenAI's new model "Astra" lit up an AGI debate across Silicon Valley, and right alongside it Sam Altman said Korea "has what it takes to be a global AI hub" and talked up working with Samsung SDS — that combo warmed up the mood on the KOSPI side even more. Riding that exact wave, I picked up 018260 today, which is Samsung SDS itself. Toss in the news that second-quarter nominal GDP growth hit 9.2%, the best number in 47 years, and it felt like the whole market was buying into a growth story on top of an earnings one. KOSDAQ only managed +0.13% as both foreigners and institutions sold there, and with energy and clean energy running hot while cybersecurity and copper/minerals got left behind, the money clearly leaned toward the bigger growth names. With rates and credit conditions sitting easy and the market feeling calm right now, today's gain reads less like one-day noise to me and more like a wave riding a bigger current underneath.
