Morning Momentum Cools, But Kospi's Still in the Green
Right now Kospi's sitting at 7,079.43, up 1.20%, while Kosdaq's inching up 0.36% to 825.12 — a fairly calm morning overall. Compared to my 9:10am brief though, that Kospi gain has shrunk by 3.41 points, so whatever burst of energy kicked off the morning has clearly faded a bit. Still, the market's got real legs under it — foreign investors poured in ₩2.5532 trillion and institutions another ₩2.6491 trillion into Kospi, chasing the same chip-and-AI enthusiasm that carried yesterday's session to a six-week closing high. That's a different story from Wall Street's last close (9/4), where the S&P and Nasdaq both dipped slightly and only energy and clean-energy names held up — today it's semiconductor heavyweights doing the driving here, while Kosdaq sees foreigners and institutions both selling, so the two boards aren't moving in sync. My own book shows Samsung Electronics up 9.7% and Poongsan up 11.7%, while Duksan Neolux sits at -9.4% and KT&G at -2.8% — heading into the close, I'll just be watching whether this morning's fading momentum keeps fading, or finds its legs again.
