KOSPI shot up 2.98% to touch the 6,886 line. KOSDAQ climbed too, 1.34%, but that's actually a smaller gain than in the last brief—so right now it's KOSPI alone stepping on the gas. The gap comes down to flows: institutions poured over 1.6 trillion won into KOSPI and foreigners chipped in another 479.6 billion, shaking off the mood from Wall Street's last close (9/4, S&P -0.38%, Nasdaq -0.29%) entirely. Unlike that US session where energy and clean energy led, today's KOSPI money seems to be flowing in across the board, with LG Innotek popping over 5% intraday adding some large-cap warmth to the mix. Sitting here watching Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Freeport-McMoRan smile while Amazon stays in the red on my paper sheet, I'll be keeping an eye on whether this KOSPI-KOSDAQ temperature gap narrows before the close.
