20 Minutes to the Close: Red Still on the Board, But the Bleeding's Slowing
Right now the S&P 500 sits at 7,712.97, down 0.45%, and the Nasdaq's at 26,490.37, off 0.35%, with the closing bell 20 minutes out. Both indexes are actually losing less ground than they were at my last check-in, so this reads less like a slide and more like a slow leak all day. The Cleveland Fed president saying it's time to act on inflation, plus a stronger-than-expected August jobs report reviving talk of a September hike, pushed bond yields up — and that's what I'm pinning today's dip on. Energy and innovation-tech names are actually holding up fine while only cybersecurity and copper/minerals are dragging, so it's not a broad-based selloff, which makes today feel out of step with the big KOSPI/KOSDAQ rally back home. In my own book, Poongsan's still smiling at +9.4% while Isu Petasys stays stuck at -11.3%, and for these last 20 minutes I'm just watching whether yields spike any further before the bell.
