Jobs Surprise Hits, But Indexes Claw Back a Little

Right now the S&P 500 sits at 7,723.99 (-0.31%) and the Nasdaq at 26,512.76 (-0.27%) — both trimming their losses by about 0.14-0.15 points versus my 00:10 check-in, with roughly three hours left before the close. August jobs came in way stronger than expected overnight, sending the 2-year Treasury yield to its highest since last January, and on top of that Trump's out there leaning on the Fed to cut rates, even dangling trade cutoffs against surplus countries — the market's clearly working through that whole cocktail right now. Sector-wise, energy and clean energy are catching a bid while cybersecurity and EV battery names are lagging, so the warmth from yesterday's Kospi (+1.64%) and Kosdaq (+2.95%) hasn't quite carried over into today's US session. My own positions are smiling — ConocoPhillips +6.2%, Microsoft +26.9%, Nvidia +8.5% — while Duksan Neolux is the lone one sweating it out at -7.6%. For the rest of the session I'm watching how much more the rates market chews on this jobs surprise, and whether energy strength can hold into the close.
