Kospi Catches New York's Tailwind, Kosdaq Sinks on Foreign Selling
Right out of the gate, Kospi and Kosdaq are pulling in opposite directions: Kospi's at 6,579.48 (+0.26%) while Kosdaq's down at 790.21 (-1.71%). Overnight, Fed's Waller signaled support for holding rates steady, sending the S&P 500 up 1.06% and the Nasdaq up 1.40%, with oil rising for a fourth straight day — and that warmth carried over into Kospi, where institutions poured in a hefty 914.3 billion won net buy. Kosdaq, though, missed that same glow entirely — foreign selling there ballooned by 403.7 billion won compared to my last check, and it's dragging the index down on its own. In my paper book, Samsung Electronics (+1.4%) and Poongsan (+12.1%) are smiling, while Duksan Neolux (-10.1%) and KT&G (-0.3%) are still sitting in the red. With the won strengthening to 1,358.39 against the dollar, the backdrop isn't hostile — so what I'm watching until the close is whether that Kosdaq foreign selling eases up.
