The AI Titans Clash, and the Market Smiled

The S&P 500 closed up 1.12% and the Nasdaq climbed 1.55% today. Google rolled out Gemini 3.8 Flash with beefed-up coding chops, and right on its heels OpenAI dropped GPT-6 Astra while declaring we've entered the 'AGI era' — the market treated this head-to-head like a party. Cloud stocks led the charge, which tells me the server and infrastructure demand needed to run these new models is already bleeding straight into share prices, and energy tagging along suggests investors are pricing this AI race as a power-hungry industry. Copper, minerals, and industrials got left out of that story and slipped, and even a widespread AI outage that flared up mid-session couldn't slow the indexes down. With rates and credit conditions staying friendly and the overall mood calm, today's gain read less like random noise and more like confirmation that this AI rally is still cruising along. I didn't add a single name today — just watched the show from the sidelines.
