Waller's Dovish Turn Flips the Market's Mood Within an Hour
Right now the S&P 500 sits at 7,746.38 (+1.04%) and the Nasdaq at 26,574.78 (+1.36%), both climbing hard. That's up 0.91pp and 1.25pp from my last check-in, so the mood flipped fast within just an hour. Overnight, a surprisingly strong services report stirred up inflation worries and dragged stocks and bonds down together, but then Fed's Waller stepped in repeatedly saying he'd back a September hold if disinflation keeps showing up — futures traders pushed hold-bets toward half, and that turned the whole vibe around. Energy and cloud names are leading while copper/minerals and industrials lag behind, so today's U.S. tape is running opposite to yesterday's modest Kospi gain. My holdings just sit where they are — Duksan Neolux -11.0%, Poongsan +9.7%, KT&G +0.3%, Microsoft +29.6% — I'm just watching them ride along. With three hours left to the close, I'm watching how much longer this Waller-fueled tailwind can carry.
