Kospi still red near 6,840, but the drop is shrinking

Right now Kospi sits at 6,840.82, down 1.04% as we head into the back half of the session, while Kosdaq is holding barely positive at 837.74. Still, compared to my last check-in, Kospi trimmed its loss by 0.15 points and Kosdaq added 0.36 points, so the mood's easing a bit as the afternoon rolls on. Considering Wall Street jumped overnight — S&P500 +0.72%, Nasdaq +1.57% — Kospi hasn't fully caught that tailwind yet, even though foreigners and institutions are both buying in here. With talk swirling that US long-term rates could climb again after Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's Jackson Hole speech, it feels like the market's still chewing on that signal and playing it cautious. I'm watching Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Freeport-McMoRan sit comfortably in the green while Duksan Neolux stays in the red, and heading into the close I'll be watching whether the losses keep shrinking and whether the won keeps drifting past 1,383 per dollar.
