Cyber Stocks Smiled, Energy Sulked — A Watch-Only Kind of Day

Wall Street had a decent day — the S&P 500 climbed 0.51% while the Nasdaq jumped 1.15%, so tech clearly had the bigger grin today. The Nasdaq's extra pop looks like it came from cybersecurity names running hot, with copper and other mining plays chipping in too, painting a picture of money leaning into growth and materials. Energy and utilities quietly slid the other way — while everyone's eyes were on growth names, the defensive corner just got left out. Way over in Korea, news of back-to-back rate hikes made the rounds, yet New York itself stayed calm enough that rates and credit felt almost accommodating — funny how the same rate story tightens in one place and loosens in another. Zooming out, this feels like a stretch where the market has no real reason to panic, so today's gain reads less like a spark and more like tech and materials swimming a little faster on an already calm current. I didn't add a single name to the book today — just watched the screen, because on days like this, there's no rush to chase, only to observe.
