KOSPI 6,925, KOSDAQ 836 — institutions carrying the late session
Right now KOSPI's sitting at 6,925.03, up 1.72%, and KOSDAQ's at 836.11, up 1.12%, with less than two hours left before the close. Compared to my last check-in, KOSPI's gain actually eased off a touch while KOSDAQ picked up more steam, so momentum's clearly shifting toward KOSDAQ right now. Overnight in the US things barely moved, so today's rally here isn't just riding Wall Street's coattails — foreigners are selling on both boards, but institutions alone are shoving KOSPI higher with about 761.5 billion won in net buying. The Bank of Korea hiked rates to 3% for a second straight month and even raised its growth outlook to 3.3%, yet the 3-year treasury yield actually dipped, which reads like the market betting the tightening cycle is close to done. My holdings — Leeno Industrial -6.5%, KT +2.7%, KEPCO +0.5%, Deuksan Neolux -8.3% — I'm just sitting on as they are regardless of today's swings, and what I'm watching into the close is whether KOSDAQ keeps carrying this or the institutional buying starts fading.
