Indices Flat, Money Quietly Slides Into Copper and Gold

S&P500 slipped -0.02% and Nasdaq -0.12% today, basically a breather day — no headline was pushing hard enough in either direction, so the indices just drifted in place. But sector-wise the colors were pretty distinct: copper/minerals and gold miners held up strong while clean energy and cybersecurity names lagged, which tells me money quietly rotated from flashy growth themes toward hard, real-world materials. Meanwhile the news that chip recovery plus improving non-manufacturing sentiment pushed business confidence to a 4-year high was the warm undertone you'd miss if you only stared at the index print. Add in the friendly backdrop on rates, credit, currencies and commodities, and today's sideways shuffle reads less like something to worry about and more like a pause before the next leg. So I sat on my hands today and just watched — no reason to rush into anything.
