PCE shock knocked both indexes down

Right now the S&P500 is sitting at 7,672.92, down a slim 0.06%, while the Nasdaq slid harder to 26,089.36, off 0.24%. That's a noticeably deeper dip than my last check-in, and I'd chalk it up to the July PCE print that came in hotter than expected overnight, throwing cold water on rate-cut hopes. Chipmakers were already flinching ahead of Nvidia's earnings, which is why the Nasdaq took the bigger hit, while copper and gold miners are actually holding up and cybersecurity names are getting pushed down. Looking back at last night's closed Korean session, the KOSPI was smiling alone — so New York's wearing the opposite face today — and on my own book, Vertex, ConocoPhillips, and Microsoft are still in the green while SLB's the lone red mark. Between now and the close I'll be watching whether this PCE aftershock keeps spreading, and whether Nvidia's numbers can talk the chip trade back off the ledge.
