Foreigners dumped ₩3.8T, KOSPI held anyway — today I just watched

KOSPI barely scraped out a +0.07% gain, but under the hood it's a tug-of-war story — foreigners dumped over ₩3.8 trillion worth of stock, and institutions caught most of it by buying back over ₩1.1 trillion, which is basically what kept the index from cracking. KOSDAQ, meanwhile, slipped -1.06% even though both foreigners and institutions were net buyers there too, because cybersecurity names got hit hard and dragged the whole board down. Overnight in New York, semiconductor stocks bounced back and treasury yields eased, pushing the Nasdaq up 0.66%, and that mood got extra fuel from news that NVIDIA is ramping mass production of a new chip built for agentic AI. The president meeting with business leaders one after another to hash out AI investment plans reads like a friendly tailwind for the bigger picture too. Funny thing is, while foreign press is out there calling the Korean market 'the world's craziest ride,' today itself was actually pretty calm — rates and credit conditions felt easy-going. So nothing really caught my eye to buy, and I just sat back and watched today.
