Nvidia Earnings Eve: Chips Are the Ones Carrying the Nasdaq Into the Close

Right now the S&P 500 is up 0.24% and the Nasdaq up 0.50%, with the Nasdaq pulling a bit further ahead as we head into the close in twenty minutes. Both indexes have crept up slightly since my last check-in (+0.05pp and +0.06pp), so this feels less like fading into the close and more like building on it. With Nvidia's earnings dropping tomorrow, chip names are buzzing — AMD, Marvell, and CoreWeave all jumped — and that looks like the real driver behind the Nasdaq's edge, while gold and copper names add some strength of their own even as cybersecurity stocks lag. Seoul's Kospi and Kosdaq closed sharply higher yesterday after clawing back from a steep drop, and New York seems to be picking up that same thread tonight — meanwhile in my own book, Microsoft's unrealized gain is still sitting comfortably around 24%, while Nvidia is basically break-even. Into the close, I'm watching whether this chip rally holds its legs, and whether that pre-earnings jitteriness starts creeping in late.
