Holding My Breath Before Nvidia's Earnings — I Just Watched

Wall Street barely budged today, with the Nasdaq off 0.35% and the S&P500 down just 0.09% — a quiet, directionless close. Chips and AI names took the brunt of it, and I think that's mostly nerves ahead of Nvidia's earnings — Siena dropping 5% in a single day says a lot about how tense the mood got, and back home Samsung Electronics slipping again while SK Hynix held its own line makes me think this isn't just an American story. Meanwhile money went looking for somewhere safer to sit, flowing into gold miners and copper names — and reading about someone buying 80 don of pure gold as a birthday gift for their husband, I get a feel for where people's heads are at right now. Rates and credit conditions still look fine, even favorable, so I'm reading this dip less as a trend breaking down and more as the market catching its breath before digesting one big event. So today I didn't touch anything and just watched from the sidelines — on days like this, I'd rather wait than rush.
