Iran Sanctions Talk Rattles Chips — I'm Just Watching

Right now the S&P 500 sits at 7,651.94, down 0.29%, and the Nasdaq's off more, at 26,018.15, down 0.62%. Compared to my 4:40am check-in, that's another 0.82 points down for the S&P and 1.15 for the Nasdaq, so the tape clearly turned rougher after the open. Word that the US is prepping fresh sanctions on Iran's trading partners leaned on futures before the bell, and chip names around the Nvidia orbit rolled over together, dragging the Nasdaq lower with them — the sector picture right now backs that up too, semis and cybersecurity soft while gold and copper miners are the lone holdouts. Looking back at the last Korean session (closed 8/24), the KOSPI got hit hard at -3.12% while the KOSDAQ actually rose 1.42%, and honestly today's US mood feels like it picked up that same uneasy thread. I'm just sitting with my marks — Eaton -9.6%, Vertex +2.7%, ConocoPhillips +6.6%, Schlumberger -0.5% — and into the close I'm watching whether chips shake this off or the Iran headlines spread further.
