KOSPI Slumps, KOSDAQ Pops — Will the Samsung-Driven Split Hold Into the Close?

Right now KOSPI is sliding toward the 6,702 line, down 3.05%, while KOSDAQ splits the other way, up 1.52%. Compared to my noon check-in, KOSPI slipped another 0.70 points and KOSDAQ another 0.66, so the afternoon has drained energy from both sides. Last US session (8/21 close) was a calm one, with the S&P and Nasdaq both up 0.43%, but today KOSPI isn't riding that tailwind — it's getting weighed down by profit-taking in Samsung Electronics, and institutions' net buying of 248.1 billion won wasn't enough to offset foreign selling. KOSDAQ, meanwhile, climbed even as foreigners and institutions were both net sellers there, lifted by earnings surprises like Sim Tech's Nvidia SOCAMM-driven beat feeding rebound sentiment. Among my holdings Poongsan is still smiling widest at +18.4%, and into the close I'm watching whether the Samsung-driven selling pressure on KOSPI eases and whether KOSDAQ's bounce holds up.
