Gold Jumps, Gains Shrink — Late Session in New York
Right now the S&P 500's up 0.40% and the Nasdaq's up 0.37% — still green, but the gains have narrowed a bit since my brief an hour ago. The dollar's looking soft, the won actually firmed up, and in that gap gold popped 2% to $4,606.99, dragging gold and copper miners higher today. Cybersecurity names, meanwhile, got left out of the party and slipped. Thinking back to yesterday (8/21), when the KOSPI closed up 0.88% while the KOSDAQ got shaken for -4.63%, today's New York session feels a lot calmer by comparison. My ConocoPhillips position is still sitting in the green, Isu Petasys still in the red — no change there — and with about an hour fifty left before the close, I'm watching whether this rally holds.
