Choppy Open, Slowly Climbing on Industrials and Gold Miners
Right now the S&P 500 is up 0.56% and the Nasdaq up 0.54%. It was a choppy overnight open, but both indices have nudged their gains a bit higher since my last brief. Industrials keep riding the AI-optimism rally and today gold/copper miners are strong while cybersecurity names lag, so that same warmth seems to be carrying through. Under the calm surface there's some tension though — the 30-year Treasury yield just broke above 5% — and I can't shake yesterday's Korean session either, where the KOSPI closed up 0.88% but the KOSDAQ got hammered -4.63%. My own book is still red across the board — Isu Petasys -10.2%, HD Hyundai Electric -7.6%, Orion -5.0%, Leeno Industrial -7.5% — so with about three hours left before the close, I'm watching how long this little rally holds up.
